Notable Trends in October 2019
Year to date, US M&A deal activity has decreased on a year over year basis by 31.8% The YTD completed deal count as of the end of October is 4,210 deals versus 6,172 deals in 2018. Capital invested has decreased by 22.1%, going from $923 billion YTD in 2018 to $718.9 billion YTD in 2019. Year to date, the median deal size has increased from $46.9 million in 2018 to $84.8 million in 2019.
For the month of October, deal count and invested capital are respectively down 24.7% and 76.6% compared to 2018. Median deal size, on the other hand, is up 65.1%.
